The text of the work is made up of phrases borrowed from his essays, and from the first chapter of <I>Memory and the Mediterranean<\/I> titled &#8220;Seeing the Sea.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Work began with recording sessions at Grame in Lyon, where a corpus of samples was created, then enhanced by the addition of various distorted versions of these samples. The main technical challenge of the piece involves the interaction between a live signal and this bank of samples, with the electronics imitating trajectories of color and intentisty played on stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Longue Dur\u00e9e was commissioned by the Festival Musiques D\u00e9mesur\u00e9es and premiered in Clermont-Ferrand on November 3, 2017 by Ang\u00e8le Chemin (voice) and Vincent Lherment (accordion).
