Stellazione\u00a0(2018)<\/strong><\/span>

Stellazione<\/i> refers to the mathematical process of stellation, extending shapes into multiple dimensions, creating new geometric patterns or polyhedrons. In Italian, the term seems (to a foreigner’s ears) to evoke both stella<\/i> (star) and azione<\/i> (action). From sparse, pulsation textures, local patterns begin to emerge: regular repetitions created by delay lines in the guitars, or refracted rhythmic patterns in the percussion. Stellazione<\/i> was equally inspired by the geometric mosaics of Ravenna, the city of its premiere, and the soundscapes of Daniel Lanois, particularly on Bob Dylan’s Oh Mercy<\/i>: layers of tremolo guitars over piano chords, occasionally punches from the bass, high-resgister wisps of sustained synthesizers.
